OPENING SESSION: Energy Independence is The Gift That Keeps on Giving

Lower oil prices offer the opportunity to recapture distillate fuel oil customers lost to natural gas and propane. It's time to review sales strategies that may have been priced out of the market by high wholesale and even higher retail prices. What happened? Growing supplies of North American crude have changed the global petroleum balance in many ways. Some of the changes have been unexpected. And many have been to the advantage of downstream oil dealers and participants. Not all dealers have handled the changes as well as they might have and this has led to new challenges for the industry We'll talk about how growth minded operators are rethinking customer programs to compete and grow their business.

While oil prices have fallen, natural gas is facing challenges that may erode its low commodity price. Interstate pipeline capacity is constrained, electric utilities are switching to natural gas driving up demand, methane leakage is being recognized both for the environmental impact it is having as well as the fact that consumers are paying for “lost and unaccounted for” gas. Additionally, new pipelines are facing significant opposition adding uncertainty and cost. Come and hear how the landscape is changing to the benefit of Oilheat Retailers!
